[Powerful 80+] Harriet Tubman Quotes | Quotes About Dreams, Love

Harriet Tubman Quotes | Harriet Tubman was born on Araminta Ross, on March 1822. She was an American abolitionist and political activist.

Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad.

Tubman was beaten and whipped by her various masters as a child. Early in life, she suffered a traumatic head wound when an irate overseer threw a heavy metal weight intending to hit another enslaved person, but hit her instead.

The injury caused dizziness, pain, and spells of hypersomnia, which occurred throughout her life. After her injury, Tubman began experiencing strange visions and vivid dreams, which she ascribed to premonitions from God.

Tubman also worked for the Union Army, first as a cook and nurse, and then as an armed scout and spy.

By 1911, Tubman’s body was so frail that she was admitted into the rest home named in her honor. A New York newspaper described her as “ill and penniless”, prompting supporters to offer a new round of donations.

Surrounded by friends and family members, she died of pneumonia on March 10, 1913. Just before she died, she told those in the room: “I go to prepare a place for you.” Tubman was buried with semi-military honors at Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn.
